Ringo's Sgt. Pepper Suit
Welcome to Yvette's
a costume site
May 1, 2008: This project has been in the plans for quite a while now; I'll be playing Ringo with a few of my friends at DC 2008, so I need to get a move on it. His beautiful pink fabric is washed, and today I started assembling the mock-up of the jacket. I hope to get the skirts on later tonight... And maybe some photos of the fabric and his metals. Yeah!

I realized after I cut the mock up, the actual costume has no center back seam... So there won't be one in my pink coat. ;D

The research for this costume I credit to Maggie... Click here for a link to her Sgt. Pepper's research page at costumer's guide.

May 3, 2008:
A while back I acquired a nice set of medals on ebay, for all of $20.00. I'm very pleased with them.

Here are some photos of the fabric, a gift from Janine, YAY Janine! :D And the medals, and the patch, and another gift from Janine, Eyore playing Ringo...

I finished the muslin for the jacket today... It is a little skewed on the left arm and left back seam... I'll be going with the fitting on the right side, meaning the right side on the dress form...
May 15, 2008:
I completed the muslin of Ringo's pants. Photos follow:
All together now: the completed muslin. I intend to shorten the coat.

I got over the fear of cutting, (fear because I've no room for error...) and have cut out the whole suit, both lining and outer layers. The bodice of the coat has three layers... cotton muslin sandwiched between the satin and silk habotai.

I have assembled the jacket nearly completely. I'm not entirely happy with the sleeves, and may take them out and place them in again, with some tweaking. Also, I figured out too late what Maggie meant by where the pleats go in the back, so mine may not fall in the 'correct' place, but being as this has been entirely French seamed, I don't think I'll redo it... I'm mulling it over. I like how it twirls. ;)
